Assistant Practice Manager

Strawberry Hill Medical Centre, Newbury, West Berkshire are seeking an Assistant Practice Manager.

This is a role that will reward a person who is self-motivating and reliable, who is a good communicator and enjoys working as part of a team. You are someone who can be given direction on a project, but you will intuitively seek innovative ways to improve performance and efficiency. You are confident in using a range of IT systems. You may have a background in the private sector, or you have worked for the NHS or another public sector organisation. You are passionate about improving the experience for your clients and for your colleagues. No two days will be the same, and you are confident in prioritising, working independently and reacting to unexpected situations. This is a role that will challenge and reward you and provide continual opportunities for personal development.

You will work with the Senior Leadership Team and GP Partners in the running of the patient care and business sides of the practice. Under the direction of the Practice Manager, and with appropriate training and support, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Driving business performance and ensuring high quality data is provided to NHS-England
  • Managing the premises, Health & Safety, and GDPR
  • Recruitment, on-boarding and line HR
  • Deputising for members of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Managing Patient Relations
  • Staff Training and Development

This is a full-time role based in the practice. Salary £32,000 to £35,000 depending on experience.

Phlebotomist

Every 2nd or 4th Saturday morning

We would love to have a reliable and wonderful phlebotomist join our Saturday morning team. Working every 2nd or 4th Saturday, you will be taking venepuncture samples, labelling the sample pot and making ready for the 11.45am collection. Working 8am to 12 noon this will suit a qualified phlebotomist who would like some weekend work. There will be a GP and a receptionist in the clinic and often some members of the nurse team.

Hourly rate £11 to £16.50 depending on experience (Saturday rate).

Patient Care Advisers and Patient Care Officers

We frequently have vacancies for admin staff. With a team of over 50 admin staff we can often find a role for suitable applicants. 

  • Do you have a passion for caring and helping others?
  • Are you able to listen and understand what the patient is asking for?
  • Can you follow instructions and formulate questions that will enable you to book a patient into the correct and appropriate appointment type as instructed by the GP's?
  • Are you reliable and able to commit to attending work when agreed to ensure our phones are answered quickly and your colleagues can relay on you to be present helping the team?

These roles are fast paced and busy. Patients will rely on you to help them naviagate the systems and get the treatment they need, from the correct person/place in the most appropriate time period.  If you feel you have the attributes we require and are looking for a permanent role, please send in your cv. Shifts will either commence between 7.30am to 9am or will end around 6.30pm. Shift lengths are between 5 to 8 hours long depending on what mutually suits us.
